Travelling by minibus, you'll head across the Atlas Mountains, stopping to visit the spectacular Ait Benhaddou kasbah made famous in the film Gladiator. Learn about the life of the friendly and hospitable Berber people as you stay in their simple mountain villages.
Relax at the fishing port of Essaouira and ride camels along the beach, before exploring the lively and colourful souks of Marrakech, watching the Djemaa el-Fna come to life with acrobats and jugglers.
Accommodation is in local-style, comfortable hotels or riads; a traditional Moroccan house or palace with an interior garden.
Typical Itinerary

Day 1: Fly to Marrakech
Arrive at Marrakech Menara Airport and meet at the group hotel in Marrakech. Relax or explore the surrounding area of Old Marrakech.

Day 2: Marrakech tour, drive to Ait Benhaddou
Enjoy a tour of Marrakech, visiting Palais Bahia, a magnificent 19th century palace, and the city's renowned souks and markets. Then drive to Ait Benhaddou, stopping for a picnic lunch en route. Ait Benhaddou is a UNESCO World Heritage Site and the set of several films including Gladiator, Lawrence of Arabia and The Mummy.

Day 3: Drive along edge of Anti Atlas Mountains
Explore Ait Benhaddou before driving to Tazenakht and the high plateau of Taliouine at the foot of the Djebel Siroua Mountains. Reach the Souss Valley amidst a landscape of argan trees and stay in Riad Arganier d’Or, a traditional riad on a real working farm, where you can learn how people live in this very traditional area.

Day 4: Easy mountain walks to villages
Enjoy a guided day walk around the surrounding area, passing through several small villages and fields in the shade of the walnut and argan trees. Visit a local villager’s house and learn how to cook a traditional Moroccan tagine. Spend time relaxing and enjoying the peace of the mountains, with views of Jebel Awlim and Tinerqwet, before continuing back to Ifergane.

Day 5: Drive via Taroudant to Essaouira
Drive to Taroudant and stop to visit this impressive Berber market town. Continue along the coastal road to Essaouira, a former pirates’ lair which is now an active fishing port and attractive resort. After arriving, you’ll have time to relax or explore the town.

Day 6: Visit old port, optional camel ride
Enjoy a free day – Essaouira has wide sandy beaches where you can hire camels, go for long walks or even try kite-surfing. Explore the town with its great fish restaurants and bazaars or eat at a stall on the quayside.

Day 7: To Marrakech, explore Djemaa el Fna
Enjoy the morning at your leisure before transferring to your hotel in Marrakech, allowing time for final souvenir shopping and a look at the activities in the Djemaa El Fna.
